Anthelmintic resistance is the process by which parasites are able to survive a standard, correctly applied dose of anthelmintics. Resistance is genetic, and continued and continued application of wormers selects for resistant parasites, increasing their numbers. Resistance to all classes of anthelmintics has been reported in the UK, apart from group 5 (purple) wormers.
