Construct stronger business foundations with apprenticeships
Carmarthenshire Construction Training Association Ltd. (CCTAL)
To build a strong business you need the right tools. Carmarthenshire Construction Training Association Ltd. understands people are the most important tool, which is why they offer opportunities for apprentices.
Apprenticeships give young people the chance to help grow your business by putting their skills and commitment into practice. More productivity, more competitiveness, more success.
The Apprenticeship Programme, supported by CITB, offers a range of Foundation Apprenticeships and Apprenticeships in bricklaying, carpentry, electrical, plastering and plumbing.
Since the programme was established it has exceeded expected outcomes with 90 per cent completion rate for apprenticeships.
“The Apprenticeship Programme provides a range of opportunities for the young people to work with a number of construction companies while employed by the association,” said Anthony Rees, CCTAL Manager.
“We found that retention and qualification rates among young people on the existing craft apprenticeship was of concern. We decided to establish a shared approach where CCTAL employers and Carmarthenshire County Council would provide on-site training within their businesses and Coleg Sir Gâr would provide off-site training.”
Last year, 29 out of 30 apprentices achieved a Foundation Apprenticeship and 26 out of 27 achieved an Apprenticeship. Twenty three of these have been employed by local contractors, three are in bursary schemes in heritage and one has become a self-employed contractor.
