What made you decide to become a farmer?

The opportunity to work with quality cattle.

What couldn’t you go without on the farm?

Agrinet software programme and recently the collar system to identify bulling heifers and genomic testing on the young livestock.

What is your favourite time of year and why?

Spring, to see heifers in milk out grazing and fulfilling their genetic potential.

What’s the most useful bit of advice you’ve ever been given?

'Grass grows grass'

What are the key areas you wish to focus on as an Our Farms Network farmer?

  • Soil and forage for extreme weather conditions
  • How can artificial intelligence (AI) be of positive use
  • Increase outputs without increasing inputs

Where would you like to see the farm business in 5 - 10 years?

Ensuring that we continue to meet the demands and increasingly high standards of our milk buyer and to do more with less, with our resources.
