KWT Accounting
A small business based in Shotton has found the perfect recruitment solution for its growing business through the Welsh Government’s Employability Skills Programme.
KWT Accounting Services has taken advantage of the programme to help overcome a skill shortage within the business after experiencing rapid growth.
Owner and director Ken Taylor, who set up the business as a sole trader just nine years ago said, “The business has gone from strength to strength over the past two years which is fantastic but it’s meant that I have struggled to manage the capacity of client work coming in and keep on top of my own administration.
“I approached my local training provider to discuss the challenges facing my business and how I might tackle my recruitment issues. They suggested that I used the Employability Skills Programme to find someone with the right skills and qualifications to meet the current skills gap within the business.
“We quickly found a very competent and experienced cleric who was happy to work the part-time hours I could offer and she has been a fantastic asset to the business. Not only has she taken complete control of my invoicing and administration she is quickly learning all the digital processes needed to manage them long-term.
“Having additional members of staff has been crucial to helping my business grow and has freed me up to manage the increasing client workload. There’s no way I would’ve been able to keep the business running without the support of my staff recruited through the Employability Skills Programme. It has been a fantastic way of efficiently and quickly recruiting competent and skilled staff to overcome the staff resource issues facing the business.
“As the business continues to grow I will most definitely look to use the programme again as a means of recruiting and would recommend it to any other small business facing problems with recruitment.”
The Employability Skills Programme is designed to provide individuals with the confidence and experience they need to get a job through high-quality work experience placements that provide work-based learning, employability and skills training workshops, upskilling in essential skills and dedicated support staff.
