You are invited to attend an important event to discuss the implementation of Fair Work Wales.

This event will be held on 12 November between 09:00-17:00 in the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.

The Fair Work Commission was appointed last year to look at how we might promote and drive fair work in Wales. It submitted its report, Fair Work Wales, to Ministers earlier this year. The report contained 48 recommendations covering eight areas for action and is available online at this link: https://gov.wales/sites/default/files/publications/2019-05/fair-work-wales.pdf.

We are committed to working in social partnership – with unions and business, and with other stakeholders, to implement the Commission’s recommendations.

At the workshop on the 12 November we will look at the characteristics and indicators of fair work and how these should be implemented, the effective enforcement of current legal rights, and how we might work to promote fair work right across Wales.

We will be asking questions such as:

  • In future, businesses and organisations receiving Welsh Government funding will be expected to be able to demonstrate ‘active endeavour’ towards becoming a Fair Work Employer. What should this look like for different sizes of business and sectors?
  • How might the Commission’s proposed Fair Work Forums be established in different sectors and who should be represented on them?
  • What type of ‘know your rights’ campaign would have the biggest reach and impact?

Please could you reply to FairWork@gov.wales to confirm your interest in attending this event. If you plan to attend I would also be grateful if you could confirm your language preference for communications around this event and any particular dietary requirements which you may have.

We need your input on how we should deliver the Fair Work Commission’s recommendations.

We regret that at this time we are only able to hold this event in Cardiff but will be looking to hold further discussions elsewhere in Wales over the coming year.
