Welsh food and drink producers will be heading to London this weekend to celebrate Dydd Gŵyl Dewi / St David’s Day at some of London’s most prestigious retail stores.
They will be in London over St David’s Day weekend to show what fabulous products they have. Welcoming them will be retailers such as John Lewis, Partridges, Harrods, Marks & Spencer and Waitrose.
Deputy Minister for Farming and Food, Rebecca Evans AM said “It is great to see our producers celebrating our patron Saint of Wales - St David and promoting their wonderful products in London. We have such an array of the finest quality products here in Wales . As a Government we are proud to support them to succeed, as part of our ambitious target of growing the industry by 30% to £7 billion by the year 2020”.
St David, the patron Saint of Wales, is celebrated all over the World on March 1st - and is an important part of the heritage of Wales, as is our Food and drink, which is one of the priority economic sectors in Wales. These events provide an opportunity to combine the two, to showcase the quality and provenance of food and drink from Wales - on a key date in the Welsh calendar.
Rufus Cartwright, Director of Patchwork Traditional Food Company Limited and who will be attending this weekend’s celebration said
“We are delighted to be attending the Food and Drink Wales event in the John Lewis Food Hall to celebrate St David's Day which will promote a wide range of Welsh food and drink sold in London.
This event enables us to promote Wales and the provenance of our products to increase sales and grow our business”.
Activities will start on Saturday 28 February with samplings at John Lewis Food Hall, Oxford Street. Welsh Cake tastings will be held at Waitrose, Canary Wharf as well as at Marks and Spencer, Marble Arch and numerous Welsh stores .
