A selection of speciality producers will be making the leap across the pond as they fly the Welsh flag at the 60th Summer Fancy Food Show in New York (29th June - 1st July 2014).
The Welsh food and drink producers will be exhibiting at the Welsh Government’s Food and Drink Wales pavilion (stands 3809 – 3827) at the event in the heart of New York city.
High Performance
In terms of food and drink sales, Wales is one of the best performing countries within the European retail market, with a growth rate of 6.4% or £310 million, during 2011 2012. With a population of 3 million, 170,000 are employed in the food and drink supply chain - the single largest employer in Wales.

This dynamic section of the Welsh population generates £17.8 billion of sales revenue. High growth young businesses operate alongside family businesses that have been producing traditional products for generations.
A Taste of Wales
A number of the companies will be showcasing new products - including a new Welsh Charcoal Sea Salt from Halen Môn - The Anglesey Sea Salt Company, which earlier this year was awarded European Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) status for its award-winning sea salt.
There will be a new cheese on show from artisan cheesemakers Caws Cenarth. The Caerphilly Castle Cannon Ball was created to celebrate the 2014 Caerphilly Food Festival, sits alongside the company’s organic and award-winning cheeses.
Welsh Lady Preserves will be launching a Grocery Range specifically aimed at the retail sector and features its Great Taste 3 star gold winning Lemon Curd, as well as Seville Orange Marmalade, Raspberry Preserve, Strawberry Preserve, Leek Mustard and Whisky Mustard.
Lemon Zest Viennese Whirls, Vanilla Viennese Whirls, Lemon Drizzle Cake and a Lemon & Poppy Seed Cake are the latest new bakes from Burts Biscuits & Cakes and will be among the goodies on offer at the show.
Peanut lovers will be delighted to know that following its success in the UK, Bravura Foods Ltd will be showing its Peanut Hottie™ which is set to launch in around 3,000 Walmart stores this autumn. The peanut flavoured instant hot beverage is available in two flavours – Peanut Hottie (original) and Peanut Hottie & Chocolate.
South Wales based wheat, gluten and dairy free bakery, Lovemore Free From, will be visiting the show, with their new bespoke packaged biscuits for the USA market as well as its new twin pack food service packaging.
Snowdonia Cheese Company’s colourful cheeses are set to appear on shelves across the US this summer after the North Wales company secured national distribution for its vibrant range of cheddar cheeses.
Traditional bakery, Henllan Bread (UK) starting baking its handcrafted bread over 100 years ago and is today run by the fourth and fifth generations of the Moore family. Among the products it will be showcasing are jam tarts, ginger bread, mince pies and its top selling traditional fruitcake.
Recognised worldwide as one of the finest malt whiskies Penderyn Madeira Single Malt will be on display from The Welsh Whisky Company, which produces the multi-award winning whisky at its Penderyn Distillery.
Award-winning premium bottled water company, Llanllyr Water, will be exhibiting their still and sparking range which is sold to many of the world’s top hotels and restaurants. A carbon neutral, socially responsible company the business sponsors a borehole project to provide clean water for villagers in Uganda.
Alun Davies, Minister for Natural Resources and Food, said; "Food is a priority for the Welsh Government and I am determined to support the industry to develop and move in positive new directions, to embrace new technology and advancements in research and development and to put Wales at the forefront of production.
“We are working to grow output from the food industry by 30% so that it hits £7 billion by 2020 and this is the main aim of our 'Action Plan for the Food and Drink industry 2014-2020’. Here in Wales we are very proud of our distinctive and unique food offer. I believe this is something that should be celebrated and shared and I hope that consumers in America will enjoy these fine, Welsh products with the same enthusiasm as we do."
