Key areas you wish to focus on as a demonstration farmer?

To build on the success we have had in controlling poultry red mites: we have trialled products to control infestations during our work as a Farming Connect Focus Farm and hope to build on this research in our capacity as a Demonstration Farm

To investigate ways of improving drinking water quality in our poultry system: we don’t vaccinate our poultry after they arrive on farm therefore it is crucial we do everything we can to provide the best quality drinking water to protect and support flock health

To identify other areas of improvement to focus on. By working with Farming Connect we may identify potential areas to improve and we are open to looking at these in depth to help improve our business.

Wern Farm Facts

"As farmers we can get stuck in our ways, a lot of us don't like change but change is inevitable in our profession. We must therefore make sure we access the latest knowledge to inform our business decisions going forward, whether that is through trialling new products that could allow us to become more efficient and sustainable or altering our production methods to deliver what our market requires."
