Meat

Red meat from Wales is enjoyed by consumers throughout the world, and is a hugely important part of our food and drink economy. This multi-million pound industry supports tens of thousands of jobs, with a massive one-third of all Welsh lamb and beef production being exported around the world.

Profitable, efficient, sustainable, innovative

Our aim is to make this important, high-earning industry still more profitable, efficient, sustainable and innovative.  An overall value of more than £1 billion a year to the Welsh economy reflects the financial benefits of the Welsh lamb, beef and pork industry and the 50,000 jobs it supports.  Exports are paramount, as Wales consumes only 5% of the red meat it produces. Lamb and beef exports account for some one third of all sales, and were worth more than £224 million in 2013.
