The latest industry figures reveal a record turnover figure of £7.473 billion for Wales’ food and drink sector in 2019, surpassing the ambitious target set in 2014 to achieve 30% growth and reach £7billion of sales by 2020. In 2018, 73% of all Welsh food and drink exports went to the European Union.

In 2014, the Welsh Government published an action plan for food and drink, ‘Towards Sustainable Growth’. It set out a vision, a mission and a long term plan with actions to accomplish them.

The Welsh Government and Food and Drink Wales Industry Board consulted on a new strategic plan for the sector. We were pleased to receive responses with so much interest and thank everyone who replied. We have published a report summarising responses.
